AU WORKSHOP
Welcome to Aeternas' AU Workshop! We're thrilled to have you here! On this post, players are encouraged to make connections and build their AUs together. While there is a cap of one character per player, you are allowed to workshop multiple characters and enable each other. For plot related reasons, all characters will be starting out in Mondstadt, this will be updated as the story progresses. For any extra information, you can check out the premise, locations, and power pages for a better understanding of the setting. As of now, only Mondstadt has a detailed description of locations- but you can assume that the businesses and other relevant locations in each nation is still there within the city (like Wanmin Restaurant for example, as this AU is modeled heavily after OU Teyvat.) These will be detailed later as we get further through the story, when characters finally travel to these nations.

Once an AU has been chosen, please create an information page with all the relevant AU info for your character along with permissions (or a link to an existing permissions post) on your journal. This will be asked for on the Taken page for a quick reference to your character's AU info. When you've finally decided on your AU, please comment to the Taken page so we can add you to the roster!

About: Honestly? He's not too different from his canon counterpart. He was adopted into a family (maybe Lyney and Lynette's??) after his mother found out she was going to die from an illness. So, she handed him to a family friend. He also grew up relatively fine without too much of trauma going on. However, he's still kind of the shy, awkward boy who needs people to talk to. Other than that, I got nothing else so anything goes.

About: Local 19 year old is going to Mondstadt to get a degree in funeral science so she continues her family business. She runs her family's social media account as a way to get people to notice said business. Other than that, she's still the lovely little gremlin that we all know. Just without the trauma of not having her family members dead.

About:

☆ Born and raised in the outskirts of Hanamizaka, Inazuma as an only child by her two loving parents. Lived a happy, normal life out in the countryside.

☆ Her parents own Naganohara Fireworks, a fireworks shop that's been in her family for generations. While the shop is fairly known throughout Inazuma, fireworks aren't a hot commodity that people buy all the time, her family is more in it for their passion for fireworks rather than the money. The Naganoharas weren't the most well-off family but they were happy doing what they love.

☆ A cheerful, friendly girl who gets along with everyone, always happy to chat the ears off of anyone willing to listen. Yoimiya has always loved taking care of people, especially children and the elderly. Even from her childhood, she's always maintained her bright, sunny disposition.

☆ Because of her natural charisma, Yoimiya eventually earned herself a decent following on social media. It started with her wanting to be a fashion influencer for fun. And then when people showed genuine interest in her life, she upgraded to posting silly vlogs until eventually, she sang a cover on a whim that became a buzz on social media. As a result of trending, a talent agency reached out to her but at the time, training to become an idol didn't sound like an appealing career path since it would make her less available for the fireworks shop.

☆ But then it all changed when her dad got into an accident involving fireworks. Her dad was the only one near the scene and thankfully, managed to escape without any serious injuries but as a result of being too close to the loud explosion, he lost part of his hearing.

☆ Determined to help her father with his medical expenses, Yoimiya decided to take up the scout's offer and train to become an idol. Throughout high school, she went through a lot of rigorous vocal and dance training under her talent agency. All her hard work eventually paid off and shortly after graduating high school at the age of 18, she started her career as an idol. She's amassed fans from all over Teyvat due to her bright, bubbly personality and her explosive shows. Her number one goal is to bring smiles to everyone across Teyvat with her music.

☆ She enjoys her career but even fame and riches won't ever pull her heart away from Naganohara Fireworks. Even when she's out traveling for tours, she always tries her best to make time to help her parents at their fireworks shop. Because of her rising fame, Naganohara Fireworks has been booming with business! The shop has become a popular tourist destination even when Yoimiya isn't in town.

☆ During her downtime, Yoimiya likes to help out at orphanages and host charity drives.

About: Bennett is a decently well-known travel vlogger who frequently posts videos of his travels all across Teyvat, showing off well-known and lesser-known spots alike, even managing to showcase some truly hidden gems. He carries a lot of passion for it despite the dangers of traveling all over the world and genuinely loves doing it. He's known for being positive and upbeat, and has a small team that helps him with his content (which may or may not be some combination of Fischl, Razor, and Barbara).

Unfortunately for Bennett, what's made his videos popular isn't the sights he shares, but the misfortunes that seem to follow him in almost every video, getting himself into frequent accidents and mishaps. These incidents have attracted a lot of attention to his videos, giving him a reputation as the Unlucky Adventurer. He doesn't mind that this is what he's become known for, but it does bum him out a little when he manages to run into a fan of his content and they tell him how their favorite video is the time he got struck by lightning or fell into quicksand or got snatched up by a giant bird and whisked away, instead of the many awesome places he's been to.

🎐 As a teacher Venti has extremely hands-on and interactive classes and a lot of the students praise him for being a very good teacher and his passion and knowledge go very far.

🎐 But it’s not uncommon for Venti to come to lectures hung over. Sometimes he even misses classes entirely (he leaves online videos to watch). But despite his tardiness, the students seem to be quite fond of Venti’s whimsical and sincere way of teaching.

About: Kunikuzushi has been created in a lab and grew up in an artificial environment (see: Truman Show) where he has been studied by scientists for a long time. He's hasn't realized yet that his life has been one big lie, and finally, when he reached the tender age of 14, the scientists decided to let him move to Mondstadt to develop his Harpastum-talents (see: rugby - aka: he's just a really fast little guy). Of course they keep an eye on him but he isn't really aware of that yet. When it comes to Kunikuzushi's personality, he is quite a piece of work. He knows he's good at his game and he has got the attitude to back that up. Of course, he smiles when others ask him to, but in general he's difficult to get along with. He's arrogant, snarky, has a bit of a god-complex and mostly is in a very bad mood. In game he's very focused on winning and proving himself. He plays for the Mondstadt Dandelions.
Looking for: Patient people who can stomach him and all his moods. Somewhere beneath it all there's someone who really needs a friend.

Bennett is the most patient, friendly guy around when it comes to other people. just imagining him, like, slowly wearing Kunikuzushi down, telling him stories about his travels to various places and showing him things he picked up and being very genuine about telling him things about the big wide world.

About:
Mostly pretty similar to his canon counterpart! Trained in martial arts as a kid, ran away from home at a young age, eventually joined the police force and became the youngest detective in the country (with a reputation to match). Heizou's charismatic and cheerful, seemingly pretty laid back for someone in his position. But he's also incredibly observant, often to the point of being a little creepy. And if you pay attention that cheerful smile is definitely hiding a sharper edge. Like, why doesn't anybody know anything about him outside of his reputation? Also how is he not recognizable as the Cyclone Detective on sight?

Despite the fact that he should be an extremely busy detective, somehow he always seems to be found wandering around on his own like he's a tourist on a stroll. And yet he also manages to keep his job. The fuck. His poor supervisors.

In his downtime he's also part of the university soccer team! He doesn't actually go to school there, but he hung around so long and played with the rest of the team so much that he's sort of unofficially officially on it. He's good, too, but mostly he only plays to have fun and decompress. And maybe also as a way to stay in shape and sort of keep up his martial arts training.

Also beware: he's a big playful flirt. Most of the time he doesn't actually mean it, he just occasionally likes to wax poetic and watch people squirm under the attention. But a casual hookup every now and then isn't all that unusual for him either...

He's probably ended up in Mondstadt as a result of just. Going along with the soccer team for one of their Away games, mostly out of sheer curiosity and wanting to travel (his supervisors will love that). And while he's there, maybe he'll sit in on a few classes that interest him. He's young enough (and looks younger) to blend in with the other students just fine! Maybe he can also bump into some old friends/colleagues before having to go back to Inazuma.

Heizou met Bennett once while he was doing a vlog series in Inazuma. Bennett somehow got himself in trouble thanks to his bad luck, he accidentally ended up somewhere he shouldn't have been or maybe got caught in an incident somewhere, something like that, and Heizou's detective work actually got him off the hook.

About:
🐉 Zhongli works full-time at the local university. While he primarily teaches History, Business, Economics, and Law, he can also sometimes be found teaching various electives from areas such as Classics, Literature, Sociology, Anthropology, Geology, and Mythology and Folklore. It's said that Professor Zhongli knows a little bit about everything and that he's a generally good resource to seek out when needing information about something.
🐉 Zhongli has a reputation for having some of the densest, information-heavy classes in the whole university, as he is known to go on long-winded lectures about the specifics of each topic he is discussing. However, some of his students see his classes as being enlightening and thought-provoking for that very same reason. It's generally agreed upon that you will either love Professor Zhongli's classes, or you will fall asleep during them; there's rarely any in-between.
🐉 Zhongli has a rather professional outlook on his work and as such is usually seen wearing tailored suits to work, foregoing the more casual approach some professors take. Some of his colleagues call him stuffy because of this.
🐉 To new students, Zhongli is something of an imposing figure, as rumours and stories of his strict guidelines and lack of tolerance for late assignments are quite prevalent across the campus.
🐉 However, former alumni have nothing but praises for Zhongli's quiet passion and attention to detail when it comes to his students, even going so far as to notice when a student is struggling and offering assistance. He has more than once recommended students pay a visit to the local youth councillor should they require.
🐉 Zhongli is something of a workaholic. He rarely misses class, readily agrees to cover for other teachers should they need, and has office hours at many different times of the day. Some speculate that the professor lives on campus, despite this not being true.
🐉 Zhongli has an appreciation for the finer things in life. It's not uncommon to see him wearing a three-piece tailored suit and fancy watch, attending performances such as the theatre or orchestra, drinking exotic teas or fine wine, or eating at expensive restaurants. One could look at Zhongli and assume the man is loaded.
🐉 While Zhongli is well-off, he is by no means loaded. In fact, it's not uncommon for him to put his purchases on tab when he is strapped for cash and waiting for payday, or to rely on others to foot the bill despite it being his idea to go out. Some of the local eateries know Zhongli well because of this.
🐉 Zhongli also happens to have a keen eye for the value of trade. That, combined with his ridiculous work ethic, means it's not uncommon for him to trade his services for goods, such as agreeing to peer review a colleague's paper, or offering business advice in exchange for a meal at the restaurant he is offering consultation services for.
🐉 While a diligent and hard worker, Zhongli doesn't always know when to rest. He often finds himself overworked and exhausted, despite his best efforts to hide the fact. Despite his firm advocacy for taking breaks and going at one's own pace, he may need to be forced to take a vacation.
🐉 Zhongli is also secretly well-built underneath his suit! He also knows martial arts, though he is not often seen attending public classes.
🐉 A lesser-known fact about Zhongli is his liking of reptiles and birds. He has a pet monitor lizard named Azhdaha that he often keeps in a tank in his classroom. A surefire way to derail any lecture is to ask him for details about his lizard.
🐉 Zhongli has a fondness for chess and has sponsored the campus chess club.
🐉 Zhongli is divorced. As for who his ex-husband is, he tends to keep that information close to his chest...
🐉 In reality, Zhongli's ex-husband is Venti. He and Venti have agreed to keep that fact a secret, and most simply assume the two are good friends who tend to bicker over foolish things. However, that doesn't fully explain the way Zhongli's demeanour softens around the music professor...

i'm just imagining Bennett having had Zhongli as a teacher once upon a time and his classes actually partially inspired him in his career as an adventure vlogger. Zhongli was so informative and knew so much and made the world and its history and culture and whatnot so fascinating to Bennett and it helped solidify his desire to go out and see the world like his adoptive family before him did.

🔥 Born into the prestigious Ragnvindr family, owners of the Dawn Winery.
🔥 Mother died when he was very young; he has very few memories of her.
🔥 Attended university in Mondstadt (probably the same one all y'all are in now), and was considered a bright and promising student. He was in several student organizations, including chess club.
🔥 Just after his graduation, his father died under mysterious circumstances. The police ultimately ruled the death a suicide.
🔥 Diluc knows it wasn't a suicide. It was both a mafia hit and a police cover-up. He just doesn't know why, and he falls off the grid for a few years digging into it. Ultimately, his search nets no answers, but it does make him persona non grata status in parts of the city. He's almost killed at one point, but is saved by a group of underground informants that take him in for awhile and help him get his shit together.
🔥 He re-emerges, and now HE IS VENGEANCE. HE IS THE NIGHT. Do NOT call him the Darknight Hero, please and thank you.
🔥 As owner of the Dawn Winery, he is considered competent and is heeded when he chooses to get involved in the day-to-day workings of the business. However, he's often a degree or two removed from it, leaving things in the care of CEO Adelinde and COO Elzer.
🔥 The reason he's somewhat detached is because he has not given up his mission to learn about what happened to his father and also fight back against the sort of corruption and criminal behavior that led to his father's death in the first place. It's why he sometimes bartends at Angel's Share despite owning it. Bars are good places to gather intel.
🔥 He's considered The Most Eligible Bachelor in Mondstadt, a status that vexes and confuses him--but that he does not go to any great lengths to dissuade. It's a good cover story.
🔥 Something something complicated relationship with Kaeya. Details TBD if we get a Kaeya.

About: So you know how Scaramouch was made in a lab?

Yeah this guy's the source for that biodata. Kunikaki [Last Name to Be Determined] is the son of a big Inazuman tech family...that totally does not seem to have a son because when he was born they just sort of handed him off to the folks behind Scaramouche's whole deal and then just never asked for him back. He grew up in the labs as well, but instead of the virtual life Scaramouche had or anything he was just. Kept there. As a source of biodata to compare the artificals to. He is perhaps Unhappy about this.

When he was about eleven or twelve, he was taken out of the lab by someone and after a few months of careful debriefing was eventually put in a foster home until he reached adulthood and enrolled in university. He is still a prickly asshole, but he has started the Wanderer-i-fication and is mostly just icy right now. Scaramouche will smile if asked. Wanderer will get even more resting bitch face-y.
